
Optometry Lecturer Delivers Presentation at University in the USA

UKZN academic, Mr Alvin Munsamy gave a guest lecture at one of the United States’s leading Schools of Optometry: the State University of New York (SUNY), on Optometry Training and Practice in South Africa.
In his lecture, Munsamy discussed the landscape of optometry in SA from its scope of practice and the collaborative role SUNY Optometry plays in expanding its collaboration with the Optometry Discipline at UKZN.
The lecture was attended by staff and students keen to learn about common SA eye conditions and the rich learning opportunities available.
Munsamy highlighted the role of the Discipline of Optometry at UKZN in its partnership with SUNY Optometry in leading the therapeutics scope expansion in South Africa and as one of Africa’s leading postgraduate research destinations in optometry.
Munsamy invited US students to consider SA and UKZN in their postgraduate study ambitions.
