The Alumni Relations Office organised the first of hopefully many get-togethers in Gaborone, Botswana for alumni on Saturday 2 November. The very well attended event (with attendees having travelled from all over the country) took the form of a buffet lunch at which the guest speaker was UKZN Convocation President and Chair, Mr Fanle Sibisi.
Held at the Gaborone International Convention Centre, this was an opportunity for alumni, donors and friends of UKZN to renew acquaintances, meet fellow alumni and be updated on developments at their alma mater.
Sibisi provided a comprehensive overview on current developments at the University as well as information on student numbers, current rankings and research. Questions followed, many regarding the registration and funding procedures for postgraduate studies at the University as well as the recent MOU between UKZN and the University of Botswana.
Executive Director of Corporate Relations at UKZN, Mr Ashton Bodrick warmly welcomed guests and Ms Normah Zondo, Director of University Relations was the Programme Director.
Guests went home with information packs containing a selection of UKZN publications and a corporate gift.
