Staff Member Named SAIOSH Student of the Year

Ms Dolly Mkize of Risk Management Services (RMS) on the Pietermaritzburg campus has been honoured as the South African Institute of Occupational Health and Safety (SAIOSH) Student of the Year.

The award was bestowed in recognition of her outstanding academic record. Mkize, recently received her National Diploma in Safety Management from UNISA where she obtained distinctions in six of her seven modules for the 2018 academic year. As part of her qualification, she was required to register with SAIOSH, which has more than 6 000 members.

SAIOSH holds a conference every year. Mkize’s award included attending the conference, all expenses paid, membership registration for 2020 free of charge and R5 000.

‘Winning this award means a great deal to me. It has affirmed that I am on the right path and enabled me to assist more people with my knowledge, creating positive change and allowing me to grow in my field,’ said Mkize.
