Alumni Recognised for Flying the UKZN Flag High
Team UKZN, comprising of four Accounting alumni, twins Mr Steffen Wies and Mr Rudi Wies, Ms Camira Govender and Mr Tim Siepman took a walk down memory lane when they visited the School of Accounting, Economics and Finance.
The quartet was crowned the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Case Study Competition winner at the finals which took place at the Johannesburg Stock Exchange last year. Head of School, Professor Mabutho Sibanda and his colleagues decided to honour the former students for flying the School, College and UKZN flag high.
Sibanda congratulated Team UKZN on their achievement. ‘We are proud of your efforts and for showing the world that UKZN produces quality.’ He also thanked their Accounting and Finance mentors.
‘The achievement meant a great deal to us. It has shown us that we are able to compete on a global level, and that our grasp of business strategy and management is on par with our international peers. We are incredibly grateful to UKZN for laying the foundation for our success,’ said team leader Steffen.
The alumni are all currently completing their articles at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Durban.
