CLMS Celebrates Staff PhD Graduations
The College of Law and Management Studies recently celebrated staff excellence at a luncheon hosted by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Head of the College of Law and Management Studies, Professor Nana Poku, and Acting College Dean of Research, Professor Harold Ngalawa.
During the event, the College honoured its staff members who graduated with their PhD’s in 2018 and also acknowledged the important role that supervisors and higher degrees administration staff played in this achievement. The team that worked on the successful 5th Business Management Conference hosted by the College in Durban in August was also acknowledged during the luncheon.
This year, the College awarded a remarkable total of 60 doctorates, 11 of which were awarded to staff members. This is an immense contribution towards the University’s efforts to increase the number of academics with doctorates.
In his address, Poku congratulated the staff on their achievements and assured them that they have the University’s full support on their academic journey.
‘The University is proud of you for embarking on this journey which was challenging and rewarding. I am sure there are times when you look back and wonder how you made it through and then you realise that it was worth it as you have grown and you met people you would have never ordinarily met. As a College, we are committed to supporting you on your academic journey as it is not as easy as just getting a PhD qualification,’ he said.
Ngalawa congratulated the staff members and urged them to share their newly acquired knowledge with their colleagues and contribute to the College’s goal of graduating more PhD candidates next year.
