Successful Alumni Events held in the Eastern Cape
The UKZN Alumni Relations Office co-ordinated two very successful and well attended events in the Eastern Cape earlier this month.
The events allowed the Alumni Relations Office to meet and renew relationships with a number of Port Elizabeth and East London-based alumni.
At each of the dinners in Port Elizabeth and East London, alumni were provided with the opportunity to network, reminisce about their alma mater and were updated on developments taking place at the University.
The guest speaker, Mr Fanle Sibisi, Convocation President and Chair, provided an informative and comprehensive overview of the developments and projects at UKZN and encouraged graduates to participate in the affairs of the University.
Professor Anesh Singh, UKZN Foundation Executive Director, who attended the Port Elizabeth event requested the attendees to consider “giving back” to their University.
Ms Normah Zondo, Executive Director (acting): Corporate Relations Division, welcomed attendees at each dinner and was on hand to answer questions.
Guests were impressed with the content of each talk and the information contained in the information packs given to each alumnus.
The attendees included graduates from the 1960s to the most current and from the former universities of Salisbury Island, Durban-Westville and Natal as well as the five campuses of the University of KwaZulu-Natal. The alumni appreciated the opportunity to receive updates on the University, which reassured them of the international status of their qualifications and their alma mater.
