Students Discover Countless Career Options at UKZN Exhibition
The College of Law and Management Studies, in partnership with the College of Agriculture, Engineering and Science, recently hosted the annual Employers’ Career Exhibition on the Pietermaritzburg, Westville and Howard College campuses.
The event aimed to create a platform for students to engage with prospective employers about opportunities for personal development, full time and vacation employment, training contracts, learnerships, international work-placement and bursary opportunities.
Exhibitors included Vodacom, Standard Bank, RCL Foods, KPMG, and Deloitte.
Students came out in numbers to network and interact with potential employers. Some students discovered new companies they did not know were in existence.
Third year Bachelor of Commerce students Ms Kanya Gegana and Ms Nobuhle Mbatha - who have attended the Employers Career Exhibition since their first year in university - say every time they arrive, they discover new companies they were unaware of previously. They said every year was a game changer for them because more companies exhibit which means opportunities for employment become endless.
Second year Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting student Ms Tasneem Adham enjoyed the experience. ‘The event gives us direction as to what we want to do and where we would like to be once we have completed our studies,’ she said.
