Master’s Candidate Selected for Prestigious African Women’s Leadership Forum in Nairobi
In a prestigious recognition of her leadership potential, Ms Kelisha Pandaram - a candidate for a Master’s degree in Marketing, has been selected to participate in the Fourth Annual Leadership Forum for Young Female Leaders (TheALILF2024).
This distinguished continental event, organised by the Amazon Leadership Initiative, takes place at the University of Nairobi in Kenya and online via Zoom on 28 and 29 November.
‘This is an incredible opportunity to connect with young female leaders from across Africa and the African diaspora,’ she said, highlighting the event as a space to exchange lived experiences, innovative ideas, and visions for the future.
The forum, supported by renowned partners including the Graca Machel Trust, German Cooperation, GIZ, Cinesky Pictures and the University of Nairobi’s Institute for Development Studies, resonates deeply with her passion for promoting women’s empowerment through leadership and technology. ‘This event aligns seamlessly with my dedication to promoting leadership and technology-driven empowerment for women and girls,’ stated Pandaram.
Drawing inspiration from leaders such as Melinda French Gates, she is committed to building inclusive opportunities for African women and uplifting others through technology-driven solutions. Representing both South Africa and the University of KwaZulu-Natal at this international forum, she aims to contribute to a collective vision for a brighter, more inclusive future for African women.
In addition to this honour, Pandaram is also on the cusp of completing the Wadhwani Foundation UKZN IGNITE 2024 Entrepreneurship course. Guided by the UKZN faculty lecturer Professor Patricia Opondo and the Wadhwani Foundation Africa team comprising of Mr Xolela Sohuma and Mr Charles Bolton, the programme has significantly enhanced her entrepreneurial skills. ‘This experience has given me invaluable insights and a practical skillset that I’m eager to apply in my social entrepreneurship work,’ she said.
Her participation in TheALILF2024 marks a significant milestone, recognising her as a young female leader and offering a platform to collaborate with others in fostering development and opportunities for women across Africa.
