Golden Key New Member Recognition Ceremony

Stormy weather did little to dampen enthusiasm at the Golden Key International Honour Society’s Annual New Member Ceremony held at the M H Joosub Hall on the Westville campus. 

The Golden Key International Honour Society, the largest of its kind in the world, is a non-profit organisation which strives to enable members to realise their full potential through the advancement of academics, leadership and service to the community.

As membership is by invitation only, the evening bore testimony to the achievements of the top 15 percent of students at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. It was indeed a moment of admiration and celebration for both the students and their families.

Among the Honorary Members for 2013 were Dr Muhammad Firoze Essa, Dr Sithabile Ntombela, Mr Noel Powell, Mr Vence Uisso and Mr Khaya Sithole. Dr Essa, an ENT Specialist at Grey's and MediClinic Hospitals, went on to deliver an inspirational and captivating key-note address about academic success and duty - to give back to those who are in need.

The grades and dedication of the students were undeniably complemented by beauty, fashion and poise, while the singing of Tamlyn Avis and Mandira Subramony had the audience tapping their feet to the music.

The efforts and organisational skills of UKZN’s Golden Key Chapters and their respective advisors helped to create a remarkable evening.
