Professor Neil Koorbanally of the School of Chemistry and Physics, Ms Nonkululeko Shange and Ms Simphiwe Mntambo of InQubate gave presentations at the seminar which was held in Pietermaritzburg.
The annual JOMBA! Contemporary Dance Experience, hosted by the Centre for Creative Arts (CCA) in the College of Humanities will celebrate its 20th edition under the theme “Legacy”, from 28 August to 9 September 2018 at the Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre, with special performances at the Open Air Theatre and the Durban Art Gallery.
UKZN staffer Ms Thulile Zama and her band, Heels over Head, recently performed at the State Theatre in Pretoria as part of the theatre’s Vavasati Festival. It was also a special performance for the five-member band as it also celebrated its 10-year anniversary.

The Student Governance and Leadership Department (SGLD) recently hosted a seminar in celebration of women in leadership. All female students and staff in leadership positions were invited to the seminar which was held at the Nelson R. Mandela School of Medicine with the aim of having them draw inspiration from women who have navigated their way up to leading roles in their respective fields and organisations.
‘It is important when discussing health issues in the country to leave no one behind,’ said Health Minister, Dr Aaron Motsoaledi at the second Annual African Forum for Research and Education in Health (AFREhealth) Symposium held at Durban’s ICC.
UKZN alumnus, Mr Nhlanhla Nzama is waving the UKZN flag high in the United Kingdom; having finished in second place at the recently held Mircogaming Isle of Man Marathon. Running under the UKZN banner, Nzama finished the 42.2 kilometre race in just under three hours and five minutes (3:04:24). This meant that he took the first position in the 35-39 age category.
UKZN InQubate has, through its ENSPIRE programme (Entrepreneurship Skills Programme), facilitated a partnership with Sigma International to pilot a first of its kind Student Income Generator Project. Sigma International, a specialist enterprise development organisation based in Durban, is a Master Dealer to Telkom.
