Zac Yacoob Scholarship recipient, Mr Aaron Naidu (left) with Professor Sandile Songca, DVC: Teaching and Learning.The Zac Yacoob Scholarship - named after Judge Zakeria (Zac) Yacoob, a former Constitutional Court judge of distinction and the last Chancellor of the former University of Durban-Westville - was awarded to Mr Aaron Naidu, as the single best honours student at UKZN across all Colleges and Disciplines.

Makgoba Scholarships are named after the first Vice-Chancellor and Principal of the University of KwaZulu-Natal and this year’s five recipients from the College of Agriculture, Engineering and Science (CAES) make a strong case for the appeal of programmes in the School of Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science (CAES).

Ms Yukta Harilal received the Emma Smith Overseas Scholarship.Ms Yukta Harilal is one of three top-performing female UKZN students from eThekwini whose stellar academic performance has earned her the Emma Smith Overseas Scholarship - funded by the family of Mrs CG Smith in her memory - and has already touched down at the University of Arkansas in the United States of America to begin her PhD in Astrophysics.
