The Durban Research Action Partnership (D’RAP) annual research symposium returned to an in-person format at the Buffelsdraai Research Centre for the first time in three years as UKZN students and staff, and representatives of eThekwini Municipality met to hear the results of key research projects that formed part of the D’RAP’s Global Environmental Change (GEC) Research Programme.

The distinctive endangered Cape Parrot, a key subject of UKZN research, is BirdLife South Africa’s Bird of the Year for 2023.

The Cape Parrot (Poicephalus robustus) has been selected by BirdLife South Africa as 2023’s Bird of the Year, a distinction that will draw attention to the characteristics and plight of South Africa’s only endemic parrot species.

UKZN was one of 10 satellite sites around the continent that joined the main site in Nairobi, Kenya to host the second African Conference on Precision Agriculture (AfCPA), an initiative of the African Plant Nutrition Institute (APNI) in partnership with Mohammed VI Polytechnic University(UM6P), the International Society of Precision Agriculture (ISPA), and the African Association for Precision Agriculture (AAPA).
