Leeds Students Visit UKZN
UKZN’s Biokinetics, Exercise and Leisure Sciences (BELS) Discipline recently hosted students from Leeds Beckett Metropolitan University in the United Kingdom. The students learnt about the University’s sport science curriculum, community engagement projects and the different streams.
Leisure Sciences programme co-ordinator, Mr Patrick Zimu said the visitors engaged with final year BELS students to share information about their universities’ community sport and coaching projects. They also explored potential collaboration between the two universities.
BELS Academic Leader, Dr Rowena Naidoo will be liaising with Leeds Beckett Metropolitan University to establish a student exchange programme.
In collaboration with eThekwini Metropolitan Municipality, Zimu host students each year as part of the Sister City Relationship Programme.
‘The programme provides international students with a platform to interact with local schools, government departments and other organisations to learn and understand the culture and way of life in the City of Durban,’ he said.
